Glossary
PMO terms as AEVU uses them.
AC (Actual Cost) — the cost incurred so far. In the Earned value report it is estimated from task allocations, the manager's monthly overhead and, with payment.view, vendor lines and payables. See Reports.
Actions — the page where approvers see stage gates and documents waiting for their decision. See Actions & approvals.
Archived (workspace) — a locked workspace. Its content cannot be changed and it is unreachable from normal screens; only an Owner archives or reopens it.
At risk — a project health state: SPI below 0.95, a gate that has waited five days or more for the PMO, or an overdue risk or issue.
BAC (Budget at Completion) — the cost budget for the work: for a client engagement the contract value plus applied client variations, less the profit margin; for an initiative the planned budget plus applied variations.
Change request — a formal request to change scope, schedule, cost, resources or risk. Normal and emergency changes wait for approval; a standard change is pre-approved. See Change control.
Core team — a flag on a member that marks them as part of the core team; an email address is required.
CPI (Cost Performance Index) — earned value divided by actual cost. In AEVU it is labour-only, based on booked people and the rate card. If people have no rate, a warning says how many.
Danger zone — the worst health state: a milestone is overdue, SPI is below 0.85, or the stage gate was rejected.
EAC (Estimate at Completion) — budget at completion divided by CPI.
EV (Earned Value) — the budget value of work done so far: BAC times the progress the registers show.
Exception — something that needs attention across projects, such as a stage past its time limit (SLA). See Exceptions.
Gate (stage gate) — the PMO's decision at the end of a stage. See Stage gates.
Health — On track, At risk or Danger zone, calculated on every read and never typed in. Completed and cancelled projects are always On track.
Milestone — a dated deliverable on a project's plan.
No sign-in — a member who can be assigned and costed but can never sign in.
On track — no danger or at-risk signal applies.
Organization — your company: owner of the plan, seats, billing and organisation-wide policy.
Permission — one thing a role may do. See Permission keys.
Portfolio — a group of related projects.
Programme — an optional planning layer between a portfolio and its projects.
PV (Planned Value) — the budget value of work scheduled to be done by the data date, spread evenly over each unit's baseline dates.
Read-only — the state of an organisation whose trial ended or grace ran out: everything can be read, nothing can be changed. Data is never deleted and paying restores access.
Requirement — a condition a stage must meet before it can be submitted, such as a provided document. A mandatory unmet requirement blocks submission.
Seat — one person who can sign in, counted once across every workspace in the organisation.
SLA (stage time limit) — the number of days a workspace allows for a stage; passing it raises an exception. The "next gate" date is derived from it.
SPI (Schedule Performance Index) — completion percentage divided by elapsed percentage, where completion is the average progress of non-cancelled milestones and elapsed is today's position between start and end dates.
Stage — Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Controlling or Closing.
Workspace — a separate space inside an organisation with its own projects, members, roles and settings.
